Cash On Delivery Fees

The Fee Settings section lets you charge customers an additional fee for choosing Cash on Delivery (COD) at checkout. This helps cover handling costs or third-party COD charges.

You can charge this fee in one of two ways — Static Fee or Dynamic Fee — but only one can be active at a time.

Choosing a fee mode

At the top of the Fee Settings page, select how you want to charge the COD fee:

  • Static Fee — applied via payment customization, based on which shipping rate the customer selects. Available on every plan.
  • Dynamic Fee — calculated live at checkout by the app, based on order total. Requires the Pro plan or higher.
note

Only one mode can be active at a time. Turning on Dynamic Fee automatically overrides and ignores the Static Fee settings below, and vice versa.

Static Fee

1. Status

Enable or disable the overall COD restriction settings.

  • Active → the configured fee applies to the shipping rates you select below.
  • Inactive → no static fee is applied.

Use this to temporarily pause your fee setup without deleting your configuration..

2. Shipping Method

Static fees are applied only to specific shipping rates, so you can charge the fee under the correct shipping method — especially if you have multiple COD or non-COD shipping options.

Select your Cash On Delivery shipping rates

Choose the shipping rate(s) that should include the COD fee. For example:

  • Cash On Delivery
  • COD – Standard
  • COD – Express

The fee applies only to orders using the shipping rate(s) you select here.

Note:

tip

If your COD shipping method doesn't appear in the list:

  1. Create a new shipping rate in your Shopify Shipping and delivery settings.
  2. Name it clearly (e.g. "Cash On Delivery") so it's easy to identify.
  3. Return to this page and click Refresh Shipping Rates.

3. Refresh Shipping Rates

Click this button to reload your latest Shopify shipping rates into the app.

Use this after adding, editing, or deleting a shipping rate in Shopify, so the app's list stays in sync with your store.

Dynamic Fee

Dynamic Fee calculates the COD charge live at checkout, based on the order's subtotal — no need to pre-configure a fixed shipping rate amount in Shopify.

Pro plan required

Dynamic Fee is available on the Pro plan and above. If you're on Free, Basic, or our legacy Early plan, you'll need to upgrade to enable this.

1. Shipping rate name

The name customers will see at checkout for this shipping option (e.g. "Cash on Delivery Shipping").

2. Description (optional)

A short line shown to customers under the shipping rate name at checkout — for example, explaining what the fee covers. If left blank, the app generates a simple default description.

3. Fixed fee

A flat amount added to every COD order, in your store's currency.

4. Percentage fee

A percentage of the order subtotal, added on top of (or instead of) the fixed fee. You can use either one alone, or combine both — at least one must be greater than zero.

The total charge is calculated as: fixed fee + (percentage fee × order subtotal).

Saving

Click Save to activate Dynamic Fee. This registers a live shipping rate calculation with Shopify and updates your checkout automatically — no separate shipping rate setup needed in Shopify's settings.

Backup rate recommendation

Dynamic Fee relies on a live calculation at checkout. Shopify has a built-in backup rate option for cases of temporary service interruption. We recommend reviewing this once in your Shopify Shipping and delivery settings, under the shipping zone's backup rate option.

tip

If you ever remove the Dynamic Fee shipping option directly from your Shopify shipping settings, the app will detect this and show a banner prompting you to reactivate it from this page.
